Design & Construction?  Who are we? What do we do?

Last February, the Homewood Facilities Design & Construction group merged with the Real Estate Design & Construction group to create Johns Hopkins Facilities and Real Estate Design & Construction.  At the same time, we all moved to Johns Hopkins at Keswick with the entire JHFRE staff.

You will see our project managers working at many locations across the Johns Hopkins Enterprise – the Homewood Campus, Bayview, Eastern, Keswick, The Berman Institute, The School of Nursing, Johns Hopkins' buildings in DC and any third party locations that JHU leases space in.

We are involved in many types of projects – new buildings (such as Malone Hall on Decker Quad), lab renovations, classroom renovations, office fit-outs for department relocations, feasibility studies and sustainability projects, just to name a few.

Some notable projects that we are working on are:

  • Homewood Baseball field – over the next few months, we will completely rebuild the baseball field  - synthetic turf will be installed (with a big Blue Jay head in the outfield!), new grandstands, pressbox, new dugouts, a new plaza area.
  • Student Union / Campus Center Feasibility Study – this study will determine what components are part of the Student Union, where is the best place for it, what might it look like.  A very exciting project for the Homewood campus.
  • Johns Hopkins Community Physicians – we are currently working on two facilities for JHCP – a general surgery location at Howard County General Hospital and a Heart Health Center in Rockville.
